Pertemps Medical are currently recruiting for a specialist clinical pharmacist to work in London within the private sector.

Location - Central London 
Contract Type - Permanent, part time at 18.75 hours per week
Salary Range-Competitive dependent upon skills and experience.

Job Description
Exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join and contribute to the development of the pharmacy service across the Hospital to provide and assist in delivery of a safe, effective and efficient pharmacy service to consultants, nursing staff, AHPs and patient on oncology/medical ward.

The post-holder will be a key member of the pharmacy team and will contribute to the efficient running of the dispensaries, and provide a comprehensive, safe and efficient clinical pharmacy service. The work will involve provision of parenteral and oral anti-cancer medication across the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To provide ward based clinical services in an efficient, effective and safe manner via: Drug History Taking, Medicines Reconciliation, Clinical Monitoring, Prescription Screening, Independent Prescribing [or work towards this qualification], MDT Reviews, MDT Ward Round, Discharge support, & Patient Education
  • To support service development via participation in: Incidents, Audit, Policy/SOP/Guidelines, MDT Training, Quality Improvement projects, Risk assessment and Management, Complaints handling, System improvement (e.g prescribing / stock control)
  •  To have or specialist skills in Oncology and to be able to clinically verify all chemotherapy prescriptions, ensuring clinically appropriate and legally correct

  • To liaise with medical, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients are provided with gold standard care and advice, particularly regarding any pharmaceutical issues
  • To ensure that hospital policies relating to medicines use are promoted and followed within the department and to actively monitor and promote safe use of medicines.

Skills & Experience

  • GPhC registered

  • Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (preferable)
  • Relevant hospital experience
  • Experience in clinical oncology
  • Additional post graduate clinical qualification e.g. diploma/masters in clinical pharmacy or equivalent
