Pertemps Medical are urgently looking to speak with Clinical Psychologist to work with a leading Neurorehabilitation service in Blackheath, East London.

This role offers an immediate start with the ideal candidate being available full-time although part-time may be considered.

The successful candidate will be providing a high quality specialist clinical Neuropsychology service, within the multidisciplinary neurorehabilitation team

Person Specification

  • Post-graduate doctorate level training in Clinical Psychology
  • HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist
  • Specialised knowledge of neuropsychological disorders, neuroanatomy and neurological conditions.
  • Specialised knowledge of neuropsychological disorders, neuroanatomy and neurological conditions.
  • Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist for a minimum of 1 year.

This role involves

  • To provide specialist neuropsychological assessment and treatment to patients requiring inpatient neurorehabilitation, including assessment, treatment and consultation. This includes appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex psychological data from a variety of sources including neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observations and interviews with patients, family members and others involved in patient care
  • To formulate and implement plans for cognitive rehabilitation and/or management of patient’s emotional and behavioural problems, based upon appropriate conceptual frameworks of the individuals’ problems and employing methods with proven research efficacy. This will involve direct and indirect work with patients and relatives, and other professionals involved in the patient’s care. This will involve initial formulations and refining of these drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.

  • To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options using both theoretical and therapeutic models and incorporating highly complex factors including historical, developmental, social and neurological processes that have contributed to the individual’s presentation.
  • To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the neuropsychological assessment, treatment, evaluation and discharge of patients who are receiving psychological input within the service.
  • To provide specialist neuropsychological opinion, advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals involved in the selection of patients for rehabilitation and their subsequent care, so by contributing to the patient’s diagnosis and/or treatment plan. This will involve liaising with other members of the multidisciplinary team, care managers, neurologists and other professionals as appropriate.
  • To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the results of neuropsychological assessments, formulations and treatment plans to patients, their families, carers and other professionals.
  • To monitor and evaluate progress of on-going neuropsychological treatment during the course of inpatient neurorehabilitation.
